Informations about IPv6

After Budai Campus, Georgikon Campus, Károly Róbert Campus, Szent István Campus, the the IPv6 service has started at Kaposvári Campus too.

What is an IP address?

  • An Internet Protocol address (IP address) is a numerical label that is connected to a computer network that uses the Internet Protocol for communication.

What does IPv6 mean?

  • IPv6 is the next generation of Internet protocol. It is developed due to the growing number of devices connected to the network and the problems of the older IPv4 protocol.

Where is the service available?

  • The entire area of Budai Campus, Georgikon Campus, Károly Róbert Campus, Szent István Campus as well as in the dormitories and Wi-Fi (Eduroam) network at Kaposvár Campus.

What do I need to do to use this service?

  • Nothing. If the connected device is IPv6 ready, than it is activates automatically.
